How do I connect my Tipalti account to Unchained Music?

Unchained Music uses Tipalti to process royalty withdrawals. Tipalti handles identity verification, tax forms, and the actual transfer of funds to your bank, PayPal, or other supported method. You only need to connect it once.

Here's how to set it up.

Step 1. Sign in to your Unchained Music dashboard and open the Payouts section.

Step 2. Click "Connect Tipalti." You'll be taken to Tipalti's secure onboarding flow.

Step 3. Enter your contact details and your legal entity information. If you're paid out as an individual, this is your personal name and address. If you're paid out as a company or label, enter your business details.

Step 4. Complete the tax form Tipalti shows you. US users complete a W-9. Non-US users complete a W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E. Tipalti walks you through which one applies. You can save and return later if you need to gather documents.

Step 5. Choose your payout method. Options include ACH bank transfer (US), local bank transfer (most countries), international wire, PayPal, or paper check. The available methods depend on your country.

Step 6. Verify your identity. Tipalti may request a government-issued ID and proof of address. Verification is usually approved within 1 to 3 business days.

Once verified, return to Unchained Music. Your dashboard will show your Tipalti account as connected, and any future royalty withdrawals will route through it automatically.

If you previously withdrew royalties through Borderless, you do not need to migrate anything manually. Just complete the Tipalti setup above and any new withdrawals will use Tipalti from that point forward.
