How much music fits on each side?

A 12 inch at 33 1/3 holds up to 22 minutes a side. A 7 inch at 45 holds three to five minutes a side.

Those are limits rather than targets. The longer a side runs, the tighter the grooves have to sit, and the quieter and thinner the cut has to be to fit. Level and low end are the first things a long side costs you. A 16 minute side cut well will beat a 21 minute side cut to the edge of what the lathe allows.
