Spotify URI finder

A Spotify URI is your share link rewritten for software. Paste the link and get the URI, the ID and the clean link back, or search by artist name and pick yourself from the matches.

Try one:

An ID on its own does not say what it points at. Twenty two characters is all a Spotify ID is, and an artist, a track and an album all look the same. Pick the type:

Pasting runs entirely in your browser, because a URI is only the link rewritten. Searching by name is the one part that needs Spotify, and the name is all that goes to our server.

How it works

01

Paste anything from Spotify

A link, a URI, a bare ID, or the whole message somebody sent you. Tracking parameters, locale prefixes, embed code and several lines at once are all read.

02

Or search by artist name

Type a name instead and pick the right artist from the matches. Each one carries its Spotify artwork, so artists who share a name are easy to tell apart.

03

Copy the form you need

Every result gives you the URI, the ID and the clean link, each with its own copy button. Paste a batch and you can copy the whole set in one go.

Link, URI and ID are the same thing written three ways

The link is what the share menu hands you: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0TnOYISbd1XYRBk9myaseg. It opens in a browser and then hands off to the Spotify app. It is the form built for people, which is why it is the one you already have.

The URI is the same object written for software: spotify:artist:0TnOYISbd1XYRBk9myaseg. Playlist pitching forms, Canvas uploads, analytics platforms, Spotify for Artists integrations and most third party tools ask for this one, usually without explaining where to get it.

The ID is the twenty two characters both forms are built around: 0TnOYISbd1XYRBk9myaseg. Every artist, track, album, playlist, podcast and episode has one, it never changes, and an ID on its own does not say what it points at, which is why the tool asks when that is all you paste.

Where the link comes from: in the Spotify app, open the three dots on any artist, track, album or playlist, then Share and Copy link. On desktop, holding Alt (Option on a Mac) while the Share menu is open swaps Copy link for Copy Spotify URI. This tool is for every other time, when the link is all you have.

Spotify URI questions, answered

What is a Spotify URI?

A Spotify URI is the machine readable address of something on Spotify. It looks like spotify:artist:0TnOYISbd1XYRBk9myaseg, and it is the same object as the share link, written in the form software expects.

Where do I need a Spotify URI?

Playlist pitching forms, Canvas uploads, analytics and marketing platforms, presave services and most third party integrations ask for the URI rather than the link. Anywhere a field says URI and mentions Spotify, this is what it wants.

What is the difference between a Spotify URI, a link and an ID?

They are three ways of writing the same thing. The link is the open.spotify.com web address, the URI is the spotify: form built for software, and the ID is the twenty two characters at the heart of both. This tool gives you all three from any one of them.

Can I find a Spotify URI by artist name?

Yes. Switch to search by artist name, type the name, and pick the right artist from the matches. Each match shows its Spotify artwork alongside the name, so artists who share a name are easy to tell apart.

Does it work for tracks, albums, playlists and podcasts?

Yes. Artists, tracks, albums, playlists, podcast shows, episodes and user profiles all resolve, from a link, a URI or a bare ID. Paste several at once and each one gets its own result.

Is anything I paste uploaded?

No. Pasting is a pure rewrite of the text, so it happens on your device and nothing you paste is sent anywhere. Searching by artist name is the one exception: the name goes to our server, which asks Spotify and hands the matches back. Nothing is stored either way.

I have an Apple Music link, not a Spotify one.

Different store, different identifier. Our Apple Music artist ID finder reads music.apple.com artist, album and song links and returns the numeric artist ID that Apple uses.

Is this Spotify URI finder free?

Yes. Free to use, no account, no caps, and no Spotify login is involved. It is a utility we build for artists and labels preparing releases.
