Can I distribute sped-up or slowed-down versions of songs?
No, you cannot distribute sped-up or slowed-down versions of songs through Unchained Music unless you fully own the rights to both the original sound recording and the underlying composition, or you’ve obtained proper licensing for a derivative work. This includes a valid master license, mechanical license, and derivative work license, all of which must be submitted at the time of distribution.
Unchained Music's Content Policy also prohibits unauthorized derivative works such as edits, remixes, mashups, or altered versions of existing recordings. Sped-up and slowed-down tracks fall under this category and will be rejected if submitted without appropriate documentation.
Additionally, even if you own or license the material, your version must comply with our Generic Content Policy. Tracks that are minimally altered, lack creative intent, or exist primarily to exploit algorithms (e.g., mass-uploaded TikTok-style edits) may be rejected for lacking originality and artistic merit.
To avoid delays or takedowns, be sure your submission meets both our rights clearance requirements and artistic quality standards.
