Release review time

Every release is reviewed by a human before it goes anywhere. This is our real, current pace: if you submitted right now, on Grow or Pro, when it would be reviewed, in stores, and live.

Scheduled a release date? Then that date is your live date, and stores hold the release until it. The dates above are for unscheduled releases, and we recommend scheduling 3 to 4 weeks out (our release date calculator maps the runway).

How it works

01

Live numbers, not promises

The dashboard reads our current review pace, medians and 90th percentiles from every release reviewed in the last 60 days, and shows it against each plan's promise.

02

Three legs, two clocks

Review runs on the team's clock, Monday to Friday 9 to 5 UK. Store delivery is automated and runs around the clock. Going live depends on the release date you chose.

03

Yours to test

It opens on "if you submitted right now"; pick any other time to see how a Friday night or a Tuesday morning changes the picture.

What actually happens when you submit

When you submit a release on Unchained Music, a person on the review team opens it first: audio, artwork, metadata, rights. That is the first leg this dashboard times: submission to the team's first action, whether that is an approval or feedback asking for a fix. Pro releases are promised a review within 2 days and Grow within 5, and the dashboard shows how the real queue is doing against both.

The second leg is delivery. Once approved, distribution is automated: the release goes out to every store you selected, and we time that from the approval to the stores' own delivery confirmations. The first stores typically land within hours, the full set inside a day.

The third leg, being live, mostly is not a queue at all. If you scheduled a release date, stores hold your release until that date, which is why we recommend picking a date 3 to 4 weeks out: the buffer keeps editorial pitching open and gives every store time. Without a scheduled date, stores publish new catalogue on their own ingestion pace, typically within a day or two of receiving it.

Two honest caveats. These are measured typical times from a live queue, not a guarantee: a complex release, a submission spike or a UK public holiday can stretch them. And if the first review sends your release back with feedback, the clock on the fix is yours; our release readiness checker exists to make the first pass the only pass.

Review timing questions, answered

How long does Unchained Music take to review a release?

It depends on your plan, and the dashboard shows the current real pace. Over recent months, the median Pro release got its first human review within a few working hours; Grow typically within two to three working days, inside the promised 2 days and 5 days respectively.

Is the review faster on Pro than on Grow?

Yes, by design: priority review is part of what Pro buys. Pro releases are promised a first review within 2 days and Grow within 5, and the dashboard shows the measured reality for both, updated from the live queue.

Is the review automated?

No. A human opens every release. Automated scans support the review, but the decision that moves your release forward is a person's.

How long until my release is actually in stores?

Delivery is automated after approval: the first stores typically have it within hours, and the full store set within about a day. The dashboard adds the current delivery pace onto the review leg for you.

When will my release be live?

On the release date you chose. Stores hold it until then. We recommend scheduling 3 to 4 weeks out. If you submit without a scheduled date, stores publish on their own ingestion pace, typically within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the release.

Are these times guaranteed?

No. They are the measured, recent pace of the real queue, medians and 90th percentiles refreshed from our production data, not a service-level promise. Complex releases and busy weeks can take longer.
