TIDAL Spotlight is a program that awards $1,000 USD to artists whose tracks, uploaded through TIDAL Upload, are selected by TIDAL’s editorial team for playlists or in-app features. There is no application process—uploading an original track and making it public automatically enters it for consideration. The program runs through June 30, 2026.

What Is TIDAL Spotlight?

TIDAL Spotlight connects independent artists directly with TIDAL’s editorial team. When you upload an original track using TIDAL Upload and make it public, it becomes eligible for review. If the editorial team selects your track for a curated playlist or in-app feature, you receive a one-time award of $1,000 USD.

The program launched in the United States in late 2025 and expanded to Canada, the United Kingdom, and several European countries in February 2026. It runs through June 30, 2026.

Which Countries Are Eligible?

TIDAL Spotlight is currently available to account holders aged 18 and older in the following territories:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • United Kingdom
  • Germany
  • France
  • Spain
  • Poland
  • Sweden
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Switzerland

How Does the Selection Process Work?

There is no separate application. Your track enters the program the moment you upload it through TIDAL Upload and make it public. Once per week, TIDAL’s editorial team reviews submissions and may select tracks based on two criteria:

  • Quality: The overall production, songwriting, and artistic merit of the track.
  • Editorial fit: How well the track suits TIDAL’s curated playlists and in-app feature opportunities.

If selected, your track will be editorially featured for at least one day and may appear in multiple editorial placements throughout the program period. Selected tracks also appear in a dedicated "Spotlighted Uploads" section on TIDAL’s home page.

How Do You Receive Payment?

Payment methods depend on your location:

  • United States: Awards are paid through Cash App. You must link a valid Cash App account to your TIDAL account.
  • Outside the US: Awards are paid through Stripe. You will be prompted to connect a bank account when your track is selected.

Each track can receive one Spotlight award. There is no limit to the number of tracks you can upload and make eligible.

How to Maximize Your Chances

While selection is at the editorial team’s discretion, TIDAL recommends the following:

  • Add a professional, up-to-date artist photo to your profile.
  • Use clean, finalized track titles—avoid placeholders like "DRAFT" or file extensions like ".wav."
  • Review your release for typos, formatting issues, or incomplete metadata.
  • Upload your best, most polished work. Editorial teams listen to everything, but quality is the primary selection criterion.

Important Limitations to Know

There are a few key points artists should understand about TIDAL Upload and the Spotlight program:

  • No streaming royalties: Tracks uploaded through TIDAL Upload do not generate streaming royalties. Income comes from Spotlight awards and visibility, not per-stream payments.
  • TIDAL Upload is separate from distribution: This is a direct upload tool, distinct from distributing through a service like Unchained Music. If you want your music to earn streaming royalties on TIDAL (and all other DSPs), you still need a distributor.
  • Program period: Tracks are eligible for Spotlight consideration until June 30, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I upload through both TIDAL Upload and a distributor?

TIDAL Upload is for original tracks uploaded directly by the artist. If you also distribute through Unchained Music, your distributed releases earn streaming royalties on TIDAL through the standard distribution pipeline. These are separate systems.

What if I am not in an eligible country?

If you are outside the listed countries, you can still use TIDAL Upload, but you will not be eligible for Spotlight awards at this time. TIDAL may expand eligibility in the future.

Is there a limit to how many tracks I can upload?

You can upload up to 200 tracks through TIDAL Upload. Each track must be original and you must hold the rights. Each track can receive a maximum of one Spotlight award.
